Skijoring with dogs in Alaska? Sure. Skijoring with reindeer in Alaska? Not so much. ;) But it’s part of the festivities for Sami National Day in Tromso, Norway, 2009. We found this video at ReindeerBlog. We’ve never seen anything like it and wanted to share it with you.

That was totally amazing! I’ve never heard anything about that before. Boy can they move!

WOW!!! I’m surprised at the speed of those reindeer. Looks like same rule applies as in mushing, never let go of the reindeer!
Thanks for sharing,

We have reindeer racing in our village during St. Maria’s Day in March every year. It’s great fun to watch, especially the kids who are phenomenal skiiers! Last year two reindeer got loose during the race and disappeared up the mountains – I’m sure they found them eventually. :))
That’s amazing that kids do it too! Do you know how fast the reindeer are running? We would love to watch a reindeer race in person sometime. We’ll have to schedule our next visit to Scandinavia during a time when we can see a race.
