Notes from Joe: Team Pictures
Although February kicked our butts with blizzards and waist deep snow, the flaring sunrises made up for much of the heart ache.
Even though Alaska’s arctic had the worst weather in decades this past season, the team did a great job. Putting together a team of dogs is similar to building, lets say a football team. Some years you have a great team, sometimes an excellent team, and once in awhile you have a winning Super Bowl team. And that was the case this year.
I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite photos of the dogs from the 2011 Arctic Expedition.
“Ahh, thanks dad. Dinner was great.”
“High five!”

The malamute’s’ version of nap time…
This tent has been my home for over a thousand nights.
A Rolling Stone
There’s sunshine in the heart of me,
My blood sings in the breeze:
The mountains are a part of me,
I’m fellow to the trees.
My golden youth I’m squandering,
Sun-libertine am I;
A-wandering, a-wandering,
Until the day I die
* * *
Then every star shall sing to me
Its song of liberty;
And every morn shall bring to me
Its mandate to be free.
In every throbbing vein of me
I’ll feel the vast Earth-call;
O body, heart and brain of me
Praise Him who made it all!

Love the flaring sunrise. It made me think of perhaps what Moses experienced on the Mount. Regardless, this is a spectacular view.
